OUR HISTORY (BAASHER FAMILY IN PORT SUDAN)
As Arabs by birth, the Baashers are one
of the most famous families in Port
Sudan, established by the British in 1906
to become the country’s most
recognized port.
The Baashers, with a passion for inspiring
the future, believed their hopes and
dreams resided on the sea, thus
beginning a ferry company that
transported pilgrims to the Port of
Jeddah in Saudi Arabia.
This concept evolved into a successful
new way to make use of the thriving
port, leading to the Baasher name
becoming associated with the shipping
industry in Sudan – and on the Red Sea.

OUR SERVICES | TANKER DIVISION
Tanker Services Food & Oil, Gas and Chemicals provides
transportation of liquid and dry bulk products, including solvents,
resins and chemicals.
Atlantic Shipping Tanker Division provides a comprehensive
Tanker Port Agency service in all major Sudanese Ports-
Bashayer-Al Khair Terminal. With vast experience in all aspects of
crude oil, clean petroleum and gas. Activity in this field is the
provision of Port Agency Service for all types and sizes of vessels
from Coaster to VLCCs. Due to our recognized commitment to
our clients we enjoy close working relationship with terminal
operators, harbor authorities and port service providers in all
locations which helps us to achieve our aim of ensuring a speedy
turnaround for vessels with minimum delays and costs. Our
customer base includes the interests of many of the oil majors
Fuel house.
Understanding the unpredictable nature of our industry we
encourage our Tanker Agency staff to be members of both the
Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers and the Institute of Petroleum as
well as attend Tanker Familiarization Safety Courses. With this
knowledge we provide the skills needed to support and assist our
principals when it counts.

PORT SUDAN INFORMATION
Port Sudan:
Mainly handling general cargoes,
livestock, cement, containers, oil
products, wheat, pesticides and cars, Port
Sudan is divided into three sections: the
Northern Port, South Port and Green Port.
Port Sudan Harbour:
Port Sudan Harbour is considered a
“natural port,” occupying a strategic site
in the center of the west coast of the Red
Sea, approximately 1200 kilometers
northeast of Khartoum and about 260
kilometers southwest of Jeddah (Saudi
Arabia).

SEA PORTS
NORTH QUAYS:
The total area of the North Quays is 853.5,000 square-meters and the length of its enclosure is 2845
meters, with a width of 300 meters. It is dedicated to handling general cargo, edible oil, molasses,
dry bulk cargo, liquid bulk and vehicles, with its design capacity maxing out at five million tons per
year.
BERTHS:
North Quays include 12 berths with a length of 1866 meters.
SOUTHERN PORTS:
The Southern Ports are concerned with the handling of containers, oil products and grain bulk,
with a total capacity of three million tons per year. The Southern Ports witnessed remarkable
progress, including the rehabilitation of Berths 17 and 18, as well as the installation of container
cranes, RTGs and other equipment to respond to all demands; the rehabilitation project also
comprises establishment of a new power station and extension of containers in Berths 17/18 by
142 meters, equaling a total of 420 meters in length.
SOUTH QUAYS:
Located south of the Harbour entrance, the length of its Container Terminal Enclosure is 1765
meters, with an average width of 500 meters.
BERTHS:
There are six berths with a total length of 1545.8 meters, which includes a Container Terminal in
addition to a Grain Silo with a capacity of 50,000 tons.
